1939-45 Star : Sapper A H Wilson, 2/2 Field Company

Arthur Henry Wilson was born at Narrandera, NSW, in August 1918, and was working as a cinema operator in Victoria when he enlisted in the Citizen's Military Force on 16 December 1941. He was assigned to 8 Light Horse Regiment, with the service number V104086. On 4 August 1942 Wilson transferred to the Australian Imperial Force, with the service number VX82015 and was posted to 8 Cavalry Regiment. In May 1944 Wilson undertook training at 1 Royal Australian Engineers Training Battalion, and after he had completed the course transferred as a sapper to 2/2 Field Company. From January to December 1945 Wilson served with the Company at Hollandia in Dutch New Guinea, Morotai and Borneo. He embarked from Tarakan for return to Australia aboard the British aircraft carrier HMS Glory, on 12 December 1945, and was discharged in March 1946.
