Description
Studio portrait of a group of men from the 42nd Battalion. Centre in the front row is 542 Sergeant (Sgt) Oswald James Driscoll, a labourer of Moonan Flat, NSW, who was awarded the Meritous Service Medal (MSM) for service with the Transport Section at Messines, Warneton, Ypres, and Passchendaele. Sgt Driscoll was killed by a shell which landed nearby when he was securing a group of captured German guns at Peronne on 2 September 1918.
