Portrait of 4671 Corporal William Lanning (Lanning or Lanny) Rowe, 14th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion and two unidentified soldiers on the deck of a ship. A student of Picton, NSW, prior to enlistment, he embarked on RMS Osterley in January 1916. He was wounded in action in France on August 1916 and died of these wounds in England on 11 August 1916.
