Description

Studio portrat of 545 Trooper Henry Eric Whitehead of Caramut, Victoria. Trooper Whitehead enlisted in 8th Australian Light Horse Regiment in December 1914 (under the name of Eric Whitehead), and embarked from Australia with B Squadron on 25 February 1915. Due to service in Senior Cadets, he was commissioned as a Temporary 2nd Lieutenant (2Lt) in the field at Gallipoli. on on 7 August 1915, 2Lt Whitehead was killed in action during the attack on the Turkish trenches at The Nek, age 25, and has no known grave.
