Description

British Second World War Potato Pete poster. The poster depicts Potato Pete as a parachutist. Potato Pete was a character created to advertise the use of potatoes in the place of bread as a source of carbohydrates. With bread in short supply due to the War and German U-Boats in the North Atlantic interrupting trade routes and sea lines, the British Government advised its citizens to use potatoes, a home-grown alternative.
