Informal outdoor portrait, taken in Wattle Park, of, left to right, W1847 Stoker Second Class (Sto II) Robert Aubrey Fry, HMAS Cerberus, of Burwood, Vic; 22816 Stoker (Sto) William Albert Fry, HMAS Sydney, of Cabarita, NSW; and 23011 Sto Philip (Roy) Staveley, HMAS Sydney, of Fremantle, WA. They are seen in Wattle Park after the arrival from the Mediterranean of Sto William Fry and Sto Staveley on HMAS Sydney [II]. Sto II Robert Fry joined the crew of HMAS Sydney on 26 March 1941 and was killed in action on 20 November 1941, when HMAS Sydney was sunk off the coast of Western Australia by the German raider Kormoran. Sto William Fry transferred from HMAS Sydney to HMAS Cerberus and then HMAS Brisbane, before being discharged on medical grounds on 20 July 1944. Sto Staveley transferred to HMAS Leeuwin on 31 October 1941 and was discharged from the Navy on 30 March 1951.
