Portrait of B/2261Ordinary Seaman Leslie Cornellius Walmsley of Brisbane, Qld. Enlisting in the navy as a bandsman in 1938, Leslie Walmsley later served on HMAS Perth as an Able Seaman. He was killed when HMAS Perth was sunk in the Sunda Strait by Japanese Destroyers during the Battle of the Java Sea on 28 February 1942.
