Studio portrait of VX31619 Corporal (Cpl) Eric Joseph Thorpe of Croydon, Vic. After enlisting in June 1940, Cpl Thorpe served in the Pacific campaign with the 2/1st Topographical Survey Company, Royal Australian Engineers. He was mortally wounded at Finschhafen and died on 17 January 1944.
