Description
A village hut in a kampong close to the company base at Gumbang. The protection of kampongs in the immediate area of the Gumbang base was one of the responsibilities of the soldiers from A Company, 4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (4RAR). Patrols regularly visited these kampongs checking for any Indonesian activity and also as part of the 'hearts and minds" program. The scratch marks across the middle of the image are from the negative.
