Description
Studio portrait of 2210 Private George Sims, of Seymour, Vic, and an unidentified private (left), both of the 24th Battalion. Private Sims embarked with the 4th Reinforcements on 27 September 1915. Later sent to France, he was killed in action at Pozieres, aged 34. Initially reported as missing, eyewitness accounts from fellow soldiers confirmed he was killed by a sniper on 5 August 1916 between Mouquet Farm and Pozieres.
