Description

Studio portrait of 2nd Lieutenant Thomas James Heller, 28th battalion (Swan Regiment). He later enlisted in the AIF, serving as a Lieutenant (Lt) with the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment. A departmental manager from Northam, WA, Lt Heller enlisted in November 1914 and on 8 February embarked from Fremantle for the Middle East on HMAT Mashobra. Lt Heller was killed in action at Walkers Ridge, Gallipoli, on 7 August 1915. He was 35 years old.
