Group studio portrait of thirteen men of the 9th Infantry Battalion. The four men in the front row can be distinguished from the other soldiers as of higher rank by their attire. Two men wear Corporal and Sergeant stripes, the most senior (and the Sergeant) wear gorget patches. The last man wears a suit (perhaps this is a school group and the man in civilian clothes is their teacher). The soldiers wear Commonwealth uniforms that date to between 1912-1914, while the officer's uniform indicates 1903-1912. Image from the collection of Major Charles Gehrmann, who served in the Boer War with the 5th Queensland Imperial Bushmen 1901-1902; with the 9th Australian Infantry Regiment (the Moreton Regiment) 1910-1921, and a Major in AIF camps in Brisbane during the First World War.
