Studio portrait of 3515 Private (Pte) Harry Joshua Hatch, 10th Battalion, of Truro, SA. A labourer before enlisting on 23 August 1915, Pte Hatch embarked from Adelaide on HMAT Borda with the 8th Reinforcements of the 27th Battalion on 12 January 1916. He was taken on strength of the 10th Battalion on 28 February 1916. Pte Hatch was killed in action in France on 21 August 1916, at the age of 19. His brothers, 685 Sergeant John Joseph Hatch, 43rd Battalion, and 1284 Pte William Roy Hatch, 8th Battalion, returned to South Australia after the war.
