Studio portrait of Chief Petty Officer (CPO) Stores Louis Nicholas Sampson, HMAS Sydney, RAN. CPO Sampson, of Forbes, NSW, enlised with RAN in May 1922. He was lost in action when the Sydney was sunk on 20 November 1941 during a battle with the German cruiser Kormoran off Carnarvon, WA, aged 34 years. All 645 personnel on board HMAS Sydney were lost.
