Studio portrait of 16976 Leading Seaman (Ldg Smn) George Austin Thomas 'GAT' Rowling, RAN, of Sydney, NSW (originally of Cobar, NSW). Ldg Sea Rowling enlisted on 29 September 1925. He was killed in action on 1 March 1942, aged 34, when the ship on which he was serving, HMAS Perth, was sunk by Japanese destroyers in the Sunda Strait.
