Informal portrait of S/4415 Able Seaman (AB) Edward James Westbrook, HMAS Perth. A native of Sydney, NSW, Westbrook enlisted on 8 August 1940. Following the sinking of HMAS Perth in the Sunda Straight by Japanese destroyers during the Battle of the Java Sea on 28 February 1942, AB Westbrook was listed as presumed dead on 1 March 1942. His name is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial in the United Kingdom.
