Studio portrait of 4750 Private Edward Blackman, 32nd Battalion, of Smithfield, SA. Private Blackman was a cleaner prior to enlisting on 5 February 1917. He embarked with the 13th Reinforcements on HMAT Borda on 23 June 1917. He was transferred to the 48th Battalion on 5 February 1918, and was killed in action in France on 5 April 1918, at the age of 19.
