Informal portrait of S5523 Sick Berth Attendant 2nd Class (SBA) Frederick Baird Wright of Sydney, NSW. Born in Scotland, SBA Wright enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy in May 1941 and served on HMAS Perth. He was captured by Japanese forces when HMAS Perth was sunk in the Sunda Strait in February 1942, and died in captivity on 12 September 1944, age 24.
