Studio portrait of 4260 Private (Pte) John Archibald Duncan McColl, 7th Battalion, of Tatura, Vic. A butcher before enlisting in July 1915, Pte McColl left Australia in December 1915 with the 17th Reinforcement group for service on the Western Front. He was killed in action at Pozieres, France, on 18 August 1916, age 20.
