Studio portrait of 3628 Private Fenton Thomas Delaney, 54th Battalion, of Adaminaby, NSW, writing a letter perhaps to one of the two ladies whose portraits are placed in the top corners. Prior to enlistment on 14 July 1917, Private Delaney worked as a grocer. He embarked on HMAT Euripides (A14) on 31 October 1917 from Sydney, NSW. Private Delaney was killed in action on 2 October 1918 in France. He is buried in the Bellincourt British Cemetery, France.
