Studio portrait of 402754 Pilot Officer (PO) John Kenneth Ridley, RAAF attached to 83 Squadron RAF in the United Kingdom. A native of Dulwich Hill, NSW, Ridley worked as a bank clerk prior to enlisting on 14 October 1940. PO Ridley was listed as missing, officially presumed dead on 19 February 1943, aged 25, when his aircraft failed to return from an operation. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Air Forces Memorial at Runnymede, United Kingdom. PO Ridley was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal (DFM) for navigational skill on operational missions on 12 March 1943.
