Portrait of 2381 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) William Edmund Hansen MM 10th Battalion of Drouin, Vic. William Hansen enlisted in the AIF on 6 April 1915 and after service on Gallipoli went to France with his battalion. He was promoted to L Cpl on 11 August 1916 and Corporal on 19 January 1918. He was twice wounded in action and awarded the Military Medal for "bravery in the field", this award was notified on 7 October 1918, after he had been listed as killed in action on 10 August 1918.
