Informal group portrait of, left to right, VX15291(later Sergeant (Sgt) ) Charles Harry Fitzpatrick , VX14096 Lieutenant (later Captain) Claude Charles Purvis Nye and VX17103 (later Sgt) Herbert Phillip Warman, all of 2/14 Battalion. The three men enlisted in Victoria in May 1940. Captain Nye was killed in action in Papua on 8 September 1942, aged 25. Sgt Warman was presumed killed in action in Papua on 9 September 1942, aged 23. Sgt Fitzpatrick returned to Australia, being discharged from the army on 13 January 1944.
