Outdoor group portrait of two Royal Australian Navy sailors and two Victorian police officers. Identified from left: 22630 Leading Stoker (Ldg Sto) Norman Francis Grinter, HMAS Sydney II, of Melbourne, Vic; his father, Francis Reginald Grinter, a Victorian Police Officer, who served with the 2nd Field Artillery Brigade during the First World War; unidentified; unidentified. Ldg Sto Grinter enlisted on 5 December 1938 and was killed in action on 20 November 1941, aged 23, when HMAS Sydney II was sunk in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Western Australia by the German raider, HSK Kormoran.
