Outdoor portrait of 22850 Leading Stoker (Ldg Sto), Herbert Frederick Herrod, HMAS Sydney II, of Waverley, NSW. Ldg Sto Herrod enlisted on 7 February 1939 and he was killed in action, aged 20, on 20 November 1941, when the Sydney II was sunk in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Western Australia by the German Auxiliary cruiser HSK Kormoran.
