Description
Group portrait of fifteen members of a troop of the 4th Light Horse Regiment, Citizens Military Force (CMF). Identified second from the left is Trooper Stuart Cecil Eastment of Wyrallah, NSW. A farmer before enlisting in October 1915, Sergeant (Sgt) Eastment left Australia for service on the Western Front as an original member of the 42nd Battalion in June 1916. He was killed instantly by a German shell during the 42nd Battalion's attack on Broodseinde Ridge, near Zonnebeke on 4 October 1917, age 21, and has no known grave.
