Studio portrait of 427560 Flight Sergeant (Flt/Sgt) George Arthur Shoesmith, RAAF, of Boyup Brook, WA. Formerly working as a general agent, Flt/Sgt Shoesmith enlisted at Perth on 19 July 1942 and after completing his training, graduated as a Wireless Air Gunner and was posted to 467 Squadron, RAAF. He was listed as missing, presumed killed, when the Lancaster aircraft PO-J, (LM267), he was a crew member of, failed to return from bombing operations over Konigsberg, on 30 August 1944. He was aged 20.
