Studio portrait of Lance Corporal (LCpl) Riland Melville Tucker, 50th Battalion, of Curramulka, ...
Description
Studio portrait of Lance Corporal (LCpl) Riland Melville Tucker, 50th Battalion, of Curramulka, SA. Enlisting in April 1916, LCpl Tucker left Australia with the 4th Reinforcements in August 1916 for service on the Western Front. He was killed instantly by a German shell at Broodsiende Ridge on 16 October 1917, age 25, and has no known grave. The portrait indicates that Tucker held the rank of Sergeant whilst in camp at Adelaide, however it is not noted on his service record that he ever held that rank.
