Studio portrait of 2186 Trooper Patrick Augustine Crowe, 9th Light Horse Regiment of Queenstown, SA. A grocer's assistant prior to enlistment, he embarked with the 15th Reinforcements on HMAT Anchises (A68) on 16 March 1916. He later transferred as a gunner to the 54th Battery, 14th Field Artillery Brigade. On 28 March 1918, he was killed in action, aged 23. His brother 1699 Pte Edward Crowe was killed in action on 11 October 1917 (see P06556.002).
