Studio portrait of 6374 Private (Pte) Colin McCulloch, 8th Battalion, of Buln Buln, Vic.The youngest of 17 children of the McCulloch family who emigrated to Australia from Scotland in 1889, Pte McCulloch worked as a farmer on his father's property before enlisting in March 1916, and left Australia for France with the 20th Reinforcements in September 1916. Married to his wife Ruby the month he enlisted, Pte McCulloch, aged 37, was killed instantly by a German shell during the 8th Battalion's attack on Rosieres on 9 August 1918.
