Studio portrait of 2982 Private (Pte) James Moran, 5th Battalion, Australian Machine Gun Corps, of Newtown, NSW. Pte Moran enlisted on 2 February 1916, and as a member of the 31st Battalion reinforcements, he embarked from Melbourne, Vic, on 14 March 1916 aboard HMAT Anchises (A68). Pte Moran was wounded in action on the Western Front and was evacuated to England, where he died of his wounds on 30 April 1918, aged 27.
