Studio portrait of 5650 Private (Pte) Herbert Melbourne (Mel) Criddle, 16th Battalion, of Naraling, WA. A farmer prior to enlistment, Pte Criddle embarked with the 18th Reinforcements from Fremantle on HMAT Seang Bee on 18 July 1916. He was killed in action in Belgium on 20 October 1917, aged 30.
