Studio portrait of 6798 Private (Pte) Stanley Edward Clasohm, 48th Battalion, of Balhannah, South Australia. A labourer prior to enlistment, Pte Clasohm served for four years in the 74th Battalion, Citizens Military Forces (CMF) before enlisting on 19 June 1917. He embarked for England aboard HMAT Aeneas (A60) 30 October 1917, twenty six days after this older brother, 254 Pte William James Clasohm, 43rd Battalion, was killed at the attack on Broodseinde (see P06871.001). Pte Stanley Clasohm was taken on strength to France on 3 April 1918. He died of shrapnel wounds received in action near Vaire St Corbie on 12 July 1918, aged 19.
