Group portrait of members of 22nd Battalion, probably the 19th Reinforcements, with their bulldog mascot. Identified is 6852 Private (Pte) Rupert James Cavanagh Moore (far left, front row). Pte Moore, a printer prior to enlisting on 6 February 1917, embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Ascanius with the 19th Reinforcements, on 11 May 1917. He was taken on strength of the 3rd Machine Gun Battalion on 2 April 1918. He was killed in action in France on 13 July 1918, at the age of 25.
