Informal outdoor portrait of three men outside a miner's hut at Wonthaggi. Identified left to right are: probably John Albert McIntyre (standing); Michael Martin (seated) and his son Frederick William Martin, leaning against the hut. Frederick Martin enlisted in the 1st AIF where he served as 3183 Private Martin with the 60th Battalion. He was killed in action at Fleurbaix, France on 19 July 1916. John McIntyre also enlisted in the AIF and served with the 22nd Battalion, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He was killed in action on 4 October 1917 in Belgium and he has no known grave.
