Studio portrait of 3730 Private (Pte) Arthur Ernest Cork, 2nd Battalion, of Surry Hills, NSW. A bootmaker before enlisting on 16 August 1915, Pte Cork embarked from Sydney on HMAT Medic with the 12th Reinforcements on 30 December 1915. He was killed in action in Belgium on 3 October 1917, at the age of 26. His brother, 1006 Driver Thomas William Cork, was killed the next day while serving in the same battalion.
