Studio portrait, taken before enlistment, of 399 Corporal (Cpl) Angus Campbell Aitchison, 6th Battalion, of Glenferrie, Vic. A baker before enlisting on 17 August 1914, he embarked from Melbourne on HMAT Hororata on 19 October 1914 as a Lance Corporal with D Company. He was killed in action in Shrapnel Gully at around noon on the first day of the Gallipoli landing, 25 April 1915, at the age of 29.
