Studio portrait of 2107 Private (Pte) Frederick Hammond, 44th Battalion, of Geraldton, WA. A railway employee before enlisting, Pte Hammond embarked from Fremantle on 10 October 1916 on HMAT Suffolk with the 3rd Reinforcements. He was killed in action on 9 June 1917 in Belgium, at the age of 35.
