Studio portrait of 4112 Private (Pte) Percy Leonard Cooney, 26th Battalion, of Brisbane Qld. Formerly a farmer, Pte Cooney enlisted on 23 September 1915 and as a member of the 10th Reinforcements, he embarked from Brisbane aboard HMAT Commonwealth (A73) on 28 March 1916. Pte Cooney served on the Western Front where he was wounded in action and died of his wounds on 11 August 1918, aged 31.
