Studio portrait of 2629 Private (Pte) John Leslie Bailey, 51st Battalion, of South Guildford, WA. Formerly a mill hand, Pte Bailey enlisted on 19 June 1916 and as a member of the 6th Reinforcements he embarked at Fremantle, WA, on 10 October 1916 aboard HMAT Suffolk (A23). He served on the Western Front and was killed in action on 25 April 1918 at Villers-Bretonneux, aged 21.
