Portrait of brothers SX13497 Private (Pte) Cecil Walter Tee (left) and SX13498 Pte Thomas Austin Tee (right) with their mother. The brothers enlisted together on 30 June 1941 in Point Germain, SA, and were posted to the 2/27 Battalion. In September 1942, the 2/27 Battalion took up a position at Mission Ridge on the Kokoda Trail, New Guinea, preparing to meet the Japanese advance. The battalion held the position for two days, during which time Pte Thomas Tee was killed in action on 7 September, aged 25. His brother Cecil was wounded the following day, but recovered and continued to serve with the 2/27 until his discharge in 1946.
