Studio portrait of 1988 Trooper (Tpr) (later Driver (Dvr)) William Horace Lloyd, 9th Light Horse Regiment (later 14th Field Artillery Brigade), of Kingston, SA. Tpr Lloyd was a labourer before enlisting on 9 November 1915. He embarked on HMAT Warilda on 10 February 1916 with the 14th Reinforcements. He was taken on strength of the 54th Battery, 14th Field Artillery Brigade on 1 April 1916. His brother, 1149 Pte Sydney George Lloyd, 10th Battalion, was killed in action in France on 7 May 1917. Another brother, 15647 Private (Pte) (later Gunner (Gnr)) Thomas (Samuel) Lloyd, previously of the 4th Field Ambulance, joined William Lloyd in the 54th Battery on 3 July 1917. Thomas and William Lloyd were killed in action on the same day in Belgium, on 25 March 1918. A fourth brother, Egbert Cecil James Lloyd, enlisted on 15 March 1916 but was discharged as unfit on 9 August 1916 due to the effects of a previous leg injury.
