Studio portrait of 2701 Private (Pte) Harold Underwood McDonald, 57th Battalion, of Arthur's Creek, Vic. An orchardist prior to enlistment, Pte McDonald embarked with the 6th Reinforcements from Melbourne on HMAT Nestor on 2 October 1916. On 15 May 1917 he died of wounds received at Bullecourt, France, aged 26.
