Studio portrait of NX58067 Lieutenant (Lt) Edward George Impey, 2/1 Pioneer Battalion (later 2/3 Pioneer Battalion), of Concord West, NSW. He enlisted straight from school in Paddington, NSW on 18 July 1940, and was killed in action while serving with 2/3 Pioneer Battalion in New Guinea on 6 September 1943, at the age of 22.
