Studio portrait of VX93752 Private (Pte) William 'Bill' Eric Matheson of North Brighton, Vic. A clerk before enlisting in the Second AIF in November 1943, Pte Matheson served in the Pacific campaign with the 24th Battalion. He was mortally wounded during a fighting patrol along the Buin Road on Bougainville, and died on 23 May 1945 aged 19.
