Studio portrait of 7037 Private (Pte) Robert Edward Pratt, 9th Battalion. A farmer from North Casino, NSW prior to enlistment Pte Pratt embarked with his brother 7036 Pte David George Pratt with the 23rd Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Kyarra on 17 November 1916. On 7 December 1916 whilst in transit, he died of meningitis, aged 25, and was buried at sea. He is commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton, England. Pte David Pratt was later wounded in action and whilst being transferred back to Australia, died of influenza on 8 November 1918.
