Informal outdoor portrait of SX12542 Private (Pte) William Clive Hawkins of Adelaide, SA, at the St Anne's Rectory at St Leonards, Sydney. A labourer before enlisting in May 1941, Pte Hawkins served with the 2/27 Battalion in the Pacific Campaign and took part in the fighting along the Kokoda Trail. He was killed in action at Gona whilst attached to the 2/25 Battalion on 23 November 1942. He was aged 20 years.
