Studio portrait of NX47772 Private (Pte) Leslie George Dillon, 2/3rd Infantry Battalion, of Kyogle, NSW. Pte Dillon enlisted on 3 September 1940 in Newcastle, NSW. He embarked from Sydney on HMT Queen Elizabeth on 11 April 1941 and fought in Syria and Crete. After returning to Australia, then service in New Guinea, he died due to illness on 4 January 1943 at Townsville Hospital at the age of 25. He is buried in the Townsville War Cemetery, Qld.
