Studio portrait of F3392 Able Seaman (AB) Russel John Perry, of Marrickville NSW. AB Perry enlisted on 17 February 1941 and was serving aboard HMAS Perth when it was torpedoed by Japanese destroyers during the Battle of Sunda Strait on 1 March 1942. Although over 300 of the crew managed to survive the sinking and were taken prisoner by the Japanese, AB Perry was one of over 350 persons reported missing, presumed dead.
