Studio portrait of 3190 Extra Regimental Sergeant (ER/Sgt) Wilfred Collin Brand, 32nd Battalion, of Hindmarsh, SA. ER/Sgt Brand, a draper, was a member of the West Torrens Rifle Club, the Australian Natives' Association small bore rifle team, the Hindmarsh Volunteer Fire Brigade and the Congregational Lay Preachers Association before enlisting on 14 February 1916. He embarked as a Private from Adelaide on 27 June 1916 with the 7th Reinforcements. On 27 February 1917 he was promoted to Lance Corporal, and on 1 July 1917 he was appointed an Extra Regimental Sergeant. He reverted to his permanent rank of Lance Corporal on 13 April 1918. He was killed in action in France on 17 June 1918. He was 29 years old.
